WELCOME FRIENDS!

Created to Inspire

In a world that often overlooks both subtle and sacred moments, my art invites you to pause and reconnect with the divine beauty present in everyday life.

Many find themselves yearning for a deeper sense of joy and inspiration within their homes — for spaces that reflect their inner light.

Through my lovingly crafted pieces, I offer not just art, but an opportunity to infuse echoes of warmth and meaning from nature and our surroundings into your living space, transforming it into a haven where peace, joy and inspiration abounds.

Hi - I’m Roy! My hope is for something in my art to move you, for whatever reason.

SPOTLIGHT PIECE

"ROLLING QUEEN"

Acrylic on canvas board, 18" x 24"

Currently on display at the Novant Health Art Show,

“A Slice of Life: The Art of Everyday” (30 May - 10 Nov 2025)

Available for purchase (contact the artist)

The sunset view is from the bridge on W 30th St, looking towards the CBD of Charlotte, North Carolina, overlooking the Norfolk Southern rail yards. "Rolling Queen" is a play on words and subject, conflating names and inspiration from two headlining 60s rock bands - The Rolling Stones and Queen - and the subjects in the painting. The gritty, blues-infused style of The Rolling Stones plays to the rolling stock (trains) and the blue shades in the fore/middle ground, while the sunset crown adorns the towering CBD of the Queen city, with a drama fit for the eclectic genre blend and theatricality of Queen.

With the art show theme, "A slice of life: The art of every day", in mind, the painting is a scene familiar to many daily Charlotte commuters, bringing together two sides of daily city life: the mundane "machinery", that gritty hard- working underbelly, represented by the rolling stock that keeps churning so that the vibrant city can bask in its glory. The grit and the glory are complementing tensions, just like the color scheme, that makes the city captivating!

I hoped to provide enough representation to be easily recognizable to the "subjects" of the Queen, but with enough left for the viewers' mind to add its own interpretive voice.

Brief Bio

Roy Cloete is a South Carolina-based painter whose work celebrates the quiet wonder in everyday moments and places, and the deeper creative spark placed in all of us. Originally from South Africa, Roy has painted since childhood, developing a painterly, impressionistic style that captures beauty that is to be found when we take a moment to see it.

Although he pursued a long and accomplished career in education and curriculum design, art has always remained a thread in his life. Roy believes that we all carry a God-given creative seed, a gift and ability to infuse every day, regardless of our activities, with potential to make the daily grind interesting and to periodically spark something uniquely exciting and new. After relocating to the United States with his family, he chose to follow his lifelong desire to become a full-time artist.

Entirely self-taught, his work is driven by a desire to glorify God and stir the creative potential within others. Whether painting in oils, acrylics or watercolors, his intention is to create art that speaks something meaningful to those who experience it. With a growing body of work and early sales in the USA, he is building a career not only as a painter but as a creative guide, with plans to offer courses and workshops that encourage others to reconnect with their own God-given creativity while deepening relationships with the Creator and people in their lives.

This site serves as a home for his evolving art journey — a space to share, connect, and perhaps even send a painting your way. To read more about Roy, including some of his other projects, take a look at his "My Story" page.
